Son of Jerry Sandusky arrested on child sex charges

by | Feb 17, 2017 | Criminal Defense

The son of former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky was arrested on child sex charges on Feb. 13. Sandusky’s son, 41, was arrested some five years after his father was first arrested on child molestation charges.

Sandusky was arrested by Pennsylvania State Police on Monday, Feb. 13 and charged with the molestation of two girls. He was charged by a judge in Bellefonte on 14 counts and held on $200,000 bail.

The 41-year-old was a supporter of his father during his various legal battles over the past five-plus years, along with his mother. His mother stood by his side during arraignment Monday.

The Sandusky son has been accused of soliciting nude photos from a 16-year-old girl last year and seeking oral sex from the girl’s then 15-year-old sister back in 2013.

“All children have a right to be safe,” said the Centre County District Attorney. “We will prosecute this case as aggressively as we do all child abuse cases. He made statements. I wouldn’t classify them necessarily as directly inculpatory, but I don’t think they helped him much.”

Sandusky was charged with the following:

— Solicitation of statutory sexual assault

— Solicitation of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse

— Six counts of unlawful contact with a minor

— Two counts each of solicitation to photograph or depict sexual acts

— Sexual abuse of children

— Corruption of minors

According to the police report, the father of the girls turned over text messages from Sandusky to police in November of 2016. The text messages reportedly asked the girls for nude photos.

The texts reportedly told the girl that it isn’t weird because he has studied medicine in the past and that she should not show the texts to anyone.

Sandusky has been suspended without pay from his job with the Pennsylvania Corrections Department due to the charges filed. He is a corrections officer at Rockview State Prison.
